The global solid-state battery market surpassed 100 billion yuan in 2025. As a star new energy technology, it is illuminating the industry’s future at an unprecedented pace and entering a golden era.

Against the backdrop of accelerated industrialization of solid-state batteries, breakthroughs in material preparation processes have become critical to technology commercialization. As a leader in precision preparation technologies for this sector, Puhler Nano has launched dual-path dry and wet process solutions to tackle challenges in the preparation of solid electrolyte powder materials.

Dry Mixing Process: Solvent-Free Precision Blending

Process Flow of Puhler Nano Solid Electrolyte Dry Mixing

The core of Puhler Nano’s dry mixing process for solid electrolyte materials lies in solvent-free high-efficiency dispersion and ultra-fine grinding.

In the high-speed dry mixing stage, Puhler’s self-developed DHM®+ dry grinding mill realizes rapid and uniform dispersion of multiple powder materials under inert gas protection, thanks to its specially designed stirring structure and dynamic mixing chamber.

In the ultra-fine grinding stage, the DHM®+ dry grinding mill depolymerizes agglomerated particles through progressive shearing and impact in multi-stage grinding zones, and precisely controls the average particle size to sub-micron or even nanometer level.

The unique advantage of Puhler’s dry process lies in its intelligent closed-loop control system. Through online particle size monitoring and feedback adjustment, grinding parameters are optimized in real time to ensure particle size distribution (such as D50, D90) meets preset standards, achieving extremely high batch consistency.

Core Pain Points Resolved:

The dry process eliminates solvent residue and contamination, which is critical for moisture-sensitive sulfide electrolytes. Meanwhile, the fully enclosed inert gas protection system keeps oxygen and moisture content below 0.1 ppm, preventing material degradation during processing.

Wet Mixing Process: Nanoscale Precision in Liquid Phase

Process Flow of Puhler Nano Solid Electrolyte Wet Mixing

Puhler’s wet mixing process is ideal for high-end applications demanding extreme particle fineness and uniform dispersion.

The core step of the process is wet nanoscale grinding. The slurry is pumped into Puhler’s advanced nanometer sand mill, where grinding media (such as zirconia beads) generate intense shear force under high-speed rotation, efficiently grinding particles to the target fineness.

This is followed by desolvation and drying. Qualified slurry is processed via vacuum thin-film evaporation, spray drying and other methods to remove solvent, yielding dry nanoscale solid electrolyte powder.

Outstanding Advantages:

Puhler’s wet process achieves a narrower particle size distribution and superior particle sphericity, which are critical for improving the compactness and ionic conductivity of electrolyte sheets.

Through precise selection and optimization of the solvent system, the process ensures highly efficient dispersion while minimizing solvent residue. Residual solvent can be completely removed via subsequent heat treatment, avoiding adverse effects on battery performance.

Process Comparison: Application Scenarios & Selection Strategy

The choice between dry and wet processes ultimately depends on balancing the material system, performance requirements, and production costs.

Puhler Nano’s solid electrolyte solutions are not limited to a single process; instead, we provide customized process combination recommendations. For certain high-end applications, a hybrid process of “wet grinding + dry surface treatment” can even be adopted to fully leverage the strengths of both technologies.

The company continues to invest in R&D, focusing on digital and intelligent upgrading of production processes.By integrating advanced online monitoring sensors (e.g., real-time viscosity and particle size monitoring) and artificial intelligence algorithms, we quickly adapt to R&D needs and accelerate the industrialization of solid electrolyte materials from the lab to mass production.
